I was really fond of the idea of bringing in the concept of colours you associate with royalty and richness, therefore i chose the colour gold and i really liked the idea of a gold lip with high shine. To do this I used the illamasqua liquid metal palette and selected the gold from there and on top i packed on the gold shadow from the mua glitter ball palette.
My initial idea to use the rich colour gold rather than red or navy came from this image from paperself with the gold band around the hair line. I really liked it. However i didn't want to simply copy and apply the same colour in the same place, in one of the images above you can see i played around with contouring in the same place however i really didn't like the effect it gave and therefore i chose to take the concept of the high shine gold and apply it else where, I chose the lips because i really liked that i could play around with the shape i was creating and so i experimented with a full gold lip, a gold bitten lip and also a gold lip applied on top of a brown liner to see if it enhanced the effects. All of which can be seen above. For my final design i chose the gold bitten lip, it seemed more interesting and still suited my idea of a soft understated look but just added enough interest and that thing it was missing.
