Colour theory...

Complimentary colours:
2 colours that are classed as complete opposites and will sit at opposites sides of the colour wheel to one another these can be a mix of warm and cool tones. For example purple and yellow. The 2 colours clash and so when put together can both draw the attention and make it hard for one colour to become the main focus.

Neutral colours:
These are known to be soft colours such as browns, creams, whites etc these do not stand out so much and don't tend to clash with any colours

Analogous colours: 
These are colours that can be found to sit directly next to one another on the colour wheel for example red and orange. These kinds of colours are known to work well together and so when creating makeup many people tend to use these sorts of colours when creating a look



From the picture above you can see the warm and cool coloured tones and also the primary and secondary colours.
